Tip #2Eat nutritious food

Choose fresh, organic whole foods whenever you can as they are much more nutritious and less likely to contain harmful chemicals. Start simply by replacing certains foods in your diet:

Food

Replace with

Refined Sugar Natural cane sugar (light to dark brown in colour)
Margarine Good old fashioned butter, ghee or olive oil
Table Salt Natural sea salt or rock salt (e.g. Himalayan salt)
Dairy Nuts, sesame seeds and tahini, oats, beans, salmon, sardines...
Canned or frozen veg./fruit Eat lots of fresh vegetables and some fruit
(fresh has many more nutrients)
Soft drinks* Filtered or mineral water
Pasta Brown rice pasta or buckwheat pasta
Wheat Other whole grains such as brown rice, spelt, millet, quinoa, buckwheat, amaranth, oats, barley...

* Many soft drinks and convenience foods (especially those labelled as 'diet', 'lo-cal', 'low sugar', etc ) contain artificial sweeteners. These are the worst of sweeteners and are linked to weight gain and many other health problems. Choose a small amount of natural cane sugar or natural fruit sugar instead.

  • Read the food labels. Look for low fat, low sugar*, low sodium, high fibre.
  • Eat foods that don't have a barcode.
  • Once in a while, enjoy a little food treat. Savour it.
  • Chew food well until it turns to a paste in your mouth. You'll enjoy the food more and it will be easier for your body to use.
  • Explore the benefits of eating foods raw, the natural way.

Tip #3Rest and relaxation

Rest early and treat yourself to enough sleep so that you feel refreshed when you wake. Most people need about 8 hours a night. Explore the benefits of meditation.

Tip #4Exercise regularly

If it's a long time since you've exercised, start with gradual stretching movements such as standing and reaching up as high as you can. Also try bending at the waist (bend knees slightly) and reaching down towards the ground with your hands. Walk more, climb the stairs instead of using the lift or escalator, cycle, etc..

Tip #5Breathe fresh air

Exercising in the fresh air, such as a brisk walk, is best. A great start to the day is to do deep breathing (Yoga breathing) by an open window for 5 or 10 minutes each morning.

Tip #6Laugh, sing and dance

Some of the best natural therapy there is for a long and happy life... and lots of fun!

Tip #7Drink enough clean water

Choose bottled mineral water or filtered tap water.

Most people don't drink enough fresh clean water every day.  Juice, coffee, tea, soft drinks do not count when it comes to feeding your body its essential fluid, water.

Do you know that your body is composed of about 75% water and 25% solid matter and your brain is estimated to be up to 85%?Water flowing

If you're not drinking enough clean water every day, your body becomes dehydrated and the symptoms frequently include tiredness, poor digestion and abnormal urination (normal colour of urine is clear to pale yellow). These are just a few of the many symptoms of dehydration and prolonged states of dehydration in the body can lead to many more severe conditions.

Water is the fluid in your body that makes your life, and life itself possible. It provides the primary means of transport at and within the cellular level and throughout the body. In short, it is essential to the chemistry of life.

By the time you recognize the feeling of thirst, the cells in your body are already water deprived and in that state they operate less efficiently. Your body loses as much as 4 litres of water a day - make sure you replace it to help your body to stay healthy.

Be good to yourself - step by step

We're not suggesting that you make all these changes overnight but if you start introducing them into your life now, step by small step, you'll really start to feel and see the benefits. It's so simple. Enjoy! :-)
